All people know that I'm a Heavy Metal fan...In my opinion, the best of bassists of rock'n roll is Steve Harris from Iron Maiden...He is a leader. The band reached the top of Heavy Metal because Steve was behind. I love listen Steve plays, mainly the songs "The Clairvoyant", "Killers", "Powerslave", "Rime of the Ancient Mariner",..., etc...Thus, to finish 2.010 I chose Mr. Steve Harris. I'd like to wish for all the blog's visitors and my friends a Happy New Year...See you soon...

House M.D.

The great English actor Hugh Laurie is Dr. Gregory House in the medical drama "House M.D."...He is an excentric doctor who stirs up different feelings in people around him. Mr. Laurie has an interesting face format, (big) eyes,..., etc, because this he has been drawn for a lot of cartoonist around the world. Sometime ago I did a Dr. House's sketch (more an illustration), but now I decided to try a caricature. I hope you enjoy it.

O grande ator inglês Hugh Laurie é o Dr. Gregory House no drama médico "House"...Ele é um excêntrico médico que desperta os mais diferentessentimentos nas pessoas que o cercam. O Sr. Laurie tem um interessantes formato de rosto, grandes olhos (e bota grande nisso),..., etc, por esse motivo ele tem sido incansavelmente desenhado por cartunistas ao redor do mundo. Algum tempo atrás eu fiz um esboço do Dr. House (mais uma ilustração prá ser sincero), masagora I decidi tentar uma caricatura. Eu espero que você goste do resultado.

Nando Reis (Remake)

José Fernando Gomes dos Reis, or simply Nando Reis, is a fantastic brazilian composer and rock singer...He started his career in the Titans Band. Nowadays he try the solo career with a great success...I love his songs like "All Star", "Do Seu Lado", "Os Cegos do Castelo",..., etc. I´ve been seeing a lot of good Nando´s caricature...The best for me are caricatures of the artists Baptistão and Manohead. Here am I to dare a Nando´s caricature...This is my tribute to him (remake)...!!!

Gene Simmons is the bassist and lead singer from KISS Rock Band...I´m a KISS fan...In the begin there was a charm the masks because all people wanted to know the real identity of the band´s members...If I´m not mistaken there was an album with a short story on the cover about this...Mr. Simmons has an interesting mark, his tongue (a long tongue, I would say). This quick sketch was made in 30 minutes...This is a short inspiration, only...!!!

Gene Simmons é o baixista e vocalista da Banda de Rock KISS...Eu sou um fã do KISS...No princípio existia um charme com as máscaras porque todos queriam conhecer a verdadeira identidade dos membros da banda...Se não estou enganado existiu um álbum com uma história em quadrinhos sobre isso na capa...Sr. Simmons tem uma marca interessante, sua língua (uma língua comprida, eu diria). Esse rápido esboço foi feito em 30 minutos...Isso é uma rápida inspiração, somente !!!

Anthony Hopkins is great actor from England...In the movie "The Silence of the Lambs", he gives life to the Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a serial killer. I have been studying his face to make a caricature. This sketch was made in 2 hours using pencil on the paper.

This is a quick sketch before start a day work...Chicão, a friend of mine, sent some Rob Halford´s pictures. Rob was the great Judas Priest Band´s singer. I watched a Rob´s concert in the Rock ´n Rio 3...It was fantastic !!! Thus, "Breaking the Law", Mr. Halford for all fans including Chicão, of course...hahaha !!!

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of USA...He lived difficult times of the country´s history with the American Civil War. These days looking his old pictures I decided to try this sketch...Mr. Lincoln was great man and his legacy include the Emancipation Proclamation of black people.

Paul Moyse is a great illustrator from England. Last year I tried a Paul´s caricature, but I wasn´t satisfied with the result...Then, I decided wait my arts improve to try again. Today, I looked at the first sketch and I changed somethings (head format, chin, ears,..., etc)...I hope Paul and the blog visitors enjoy of the remake.

Brazilian Rush Tour 2.010 - Final

Alex Lifeson is the last piece of Rush´s puzzle. He is the great lead guitar of the band. In my oppinion, Alex´s caricature was very difficult...I don´t know, perhaps the other members had something different (eyes, noses, etc)...At last, I hope you can enjoy it...I´d like to thank my friend Chicão by the Rush´s pictures, comments and incentive.

The great Rush´s singer, bassist and keyboardist Geddy Lee doesn´t need to be presented. He is fantastic...I love his perfect voice. The "Closer to the Heart" is my favourite song. This is my caricature sequence to celebrate the Brazilian Rush Tour 2.010.

O grande cantor, baixista e tecladista Geddy Lee não precisa ser apresentado. Ele é fantástico...Eu adoro sua voz perfeita. "Closer to the Heart" é a minha música favorita. Essa é minha seqüência de caricaturas para celebrar a Turnê Brasileira do Rush 2.010.

Brazilian Rush Tour 2.010 - Part 1

The Rush is one of my favourite rock band...The band comes from Canada and its songs are fantastics like "Circumstances", "Big Money", Mystic Rhytims, "A Farewell to Kings", "Tom Sawyer",..., etc. Here in Brazil the song "Tom Sawyer" was played a lot in the TV Series "MacGyver" (I don´t know if the same fact happened in USA)...Now in October Rush will play here again. Thus, I decided to try the caricature of the great drummer, Neil Peart. I´d like to thanks my friend Chicão by the excellents pictures.

O Rush é uma das minhas bandas de rock favoritas...A banda é originária do Canadá e as músicas são fantásticas como "Circumstances", "Big Money", "Mystic Rhytims", "A Farewell to Kings", "Tom Sawyer",..., etc. Aqui no Brasil a música "Tom Sawyer" era tocada na abertura da Série de TV "MacGyver" (Eu não sei se isso também acontecia nos Estados Unidos)...Agora em Outubro o Rush tocará aqui novamente. Hoover Dam

In July 2.010 during our Family Vacations, like a good Civil Engineer, I visited Hoover Dam located at Colorado River (on the border between US States of Nevada and Arizona). This fantastic construction was possible due the massive effort of the people, among them Mr. Herbert Clark Hoover. In 1.935, the Dam was concluded and it was named "Hoover Dam". Mr. Hoover was the 31th President of USA...Thus, this is my homenage to this great man for his vanguard.

Em Julho 2.010 durante nossas férias familiares, como um bom Engenheiro Civil, eu visitei a Barragem Hoover localizada no Rio Colorado (divisa entre os estados americanos de Nevada e Arizona). Essa fantástica obra foi possível devido ao esforço massivo de muitas pessoas, entre elas o Sr. Herbert Clark Hoover, Em 1.935, a barragem foi concluída e foi nomeada "Hoover Dam". O Sr. Hoover foi o 31th Presidente dos Estados Unidos...Assim, essa é minha homenagem para esse grande homem por sua vanguarda.

If someone asked me about the complete actor, I would say that this guy is John Travolta. I love his movies, like "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble", "Saturday Night Fever", "Swordfish", "Face/Off", etc...He is fantastic !!! This picture inspired me...He used this style in the movie "From Paris with Love".

Se alguém me perguntasse sobre o ator completo. eu diria que esse cara é John Travolta. Eu adoro seus filmes, como "O Menino da Bolha de Plástico", "Os Embalos de Sábado a Noite", "A Senha", "A Outra Face", etc...Ele é fantástico !!! This is a hilarious and interesting TV Series from Liv Channel...Paul John Teutul Sr. is the patriarch from the Teutul´s Family. I love to watch each episode...It´s is very funny too. This quick sketch I did later to look an interesting Paul Sr.´s picture at the internet.

The new Brazilian Soccer´s Coach is Mano Menezes...He substituted Dunga in the command. In despite of Brazil´s team win USA Soccer Team in New Jersey last week, I think early to give any impression about his work. He is experient, winner, smart,..., etc, but the Brazilian Soccer Team is different from the Soccer Club. Like a good brazilian I hope him get a success.

O novo técnico da Seleção Brasileira de Futebol é Mano Menezes...Ele substituiu Dunga no comando. Apesar do time brasileiro vencer o time americano em Nova Jersey na semana passada, eu acho cedo dar qualquer impressão a respeito do trabalho dele. Ele é experiente, vencedor, inteligente,..., etc, mas a Seleção Brasileira é diferente do Clube de Futebol. Como um bom brasileiro eu espero que ele alcance sucesso.

David Keith Lynch is an American filmmaker...He has been working with movies and some cartoons too. In the 90´s on TV his success serie was "Twin Peaks"...Among the movies are "The Elephant Man", "Blue Velvet", "Wild at Heart",..., etc. I don´t need to say that David´s hair is an incentive for any cartoonist to draw him...hahaha !!! Slash was the great lead guitar from Guns n´Roses band. He is an excentric guy and an essential lead guitar. He has sharp "riffs" when he plays guitar solo. I think Guns n´ Roses lost as much as Slash with the separation...This is my tribute to him.

Alfred James Pacino or Al Pacino doesn´t need to be presented...He is a great actor from USA. I love his movies, in special "Scarface" and "Scent of a Woman". I´ve been preparing some quick sketches to the automatic insertion, because I´ll be out some weeks in our family vacations at California...But I´ll be back !!! Perhaps I can meet there Mr. Al Pacino...hahaha !!! It would be fantastic !!!

Freddie Mercury Wrinkled...

Freddie Mercury was a great singer of Queen group from England...His voice is fantastic. In fact Freddie was born in Africa - The United Republic of Tanzania - some people doesn´t know about this. Later to do the drawing, I looked to the artwork when my friend and master, Paulo Branco, suggested to wrinkle the paper. The result was this interesting caricature...Sometimes you can reach good results when you look to the things in a different way. This artwork was selected in the International Contest - Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Freddie Mercury foi um grande vocalista do grupo Queen da Inglaterra...Sua voz é fantástica. Na verdade Freddie nasceu na África - na República Unida da Tanzânia - algumas pessoas desconhecem isso. Após fazer o desenho, eu olhava para a arte quando meu amigo e mestre, Paulo Branco, sugeriu amarrotar o papel. O resultado foi essa interessante caricatura...As vezes você pode alcançar bons resultados when se olha para as coisas de uma maneira diferente. Esse trabalho foi selecionado numa competição internacional na Bósnia & Herzegovina.

I love movies and cinema...Specially thriller, action and Sci Fi. Hellboy from Comic Books is an interesting movie. Today I was looking for pictures in the internet and I found a Hellboy´s picture from the movie of Director Guillermo Del Toro...Then, I tried this quick sketch. In the background I used oil pastel red.

Eu adoro filmes e cinema...Especialmente suspense, ação e ficção científica. Hellboy das histórias em quadrinhos é um filme interessante. Matt Groening is the Simpsons´s creator...This guy is a genius for me. He makes a revolution with the Simpsons Family, because they are a mirror from the real life. Sometimes are difficult to accept the reality. I love this cartoon. Another famous Matt´s cartoon is Futurama...It is very funny too. I´ve been studied his style...It is very interesting, it´s my guarantee !!!

The Goalkeeper...

Always when you thing about soccer, you can remember of the teams, goals, forwards, etc..., but the goalkeepers aren´t remebered. In fact, they avoid the goal...and the goal is the maximum exponent in the game...Because this, perhaps they can be hated. Here in Brazil, there is a goalkeeper that became the feeling different. Rogério Ceni, from São Paulo Futebol Clube, is the goalkeeper that more goals did in all times. Sempre quando você pensa em futebol, você pode se lembrar dos times, gols, artilheiros, etc..., mas os goleiros não são lembrados. Na verdade, eles evitam o gol...e o gol é o expoente máximo do jogo...Por isso, talvez eles sejam tão odiados. Aqui no Brasil, existe um goleiro que tornou o sentimento diferente. Rogério Ceni, do São Paulo Futebol Clube, é o goleiro que mais gols fez em todos os tempos. Assim essa caricatura, estilo Retrô, eu gostaria de dedicar para os fanáticos torcedores do São Paulo: Léo, Luciano, Rinaldo, Rovério, Jair e meu amigo especial Celso Carlos Antunes (onde você estiver...!!!).

The Madman...

Tom Richmond is a great American Cartoonist...I love his style. The details, technics, etc. He is a MAD Magazine´s cartoonists, because this his works doesn´t need to be presented. I´ve been studying the Tom´s tutorials...It is very interesting. I tried to make a Tom´s caricature, but I ´m learning yet. The best statement to the caricature was put him in the MAD´s cover...What do you think about ???

Tom Richmond é um grande Cartunista Americano...Eu adoro seu estilo. Os detalhes, técnicas, etc. Ele é um dos cartunista da Revista MAD, por esse motivo seus trabalhos não precisam ser apresentados. Eu tenho estudado atentamente os seus tutoriais...São muito interessantes. Eu tentei fazer uma caricatura dele, mas eu ainda estou aprendendo. A melhor indicação que eu encontrei para essa carica foi colocá-la numa capa da Revista MAD...O que você acha ???

Finazzi é o Cara !!!

I love soccer...I´ve been participating of a group called "Dew Group". This group play soccer every week on thursday's night at "Círculo Militar de Campinas". Some days ago, we receive a very special guest to play with us, the great forward Finazzi. He is a professional...He played soccer in Ponte Preta, América - SP, Corinthians, Atlético - PR,..., etc. He is a great person. Hamilton, a friend of mine, asked me to draw him and I did...Then, Hamilton gave this caricature to him. It was fantastic for me to play soccer with him and to do the caricature too...I´d like to thank my "brother" Hamilton by the pictures.

Eu amo futebol...Eu tenho participado de um grupo chamado "Turma do Sereno". Esse grupo se reune para jogar futebol toda quinta-feira a noite no ambiente do "Círculo Militar de Campinas". Alguns dias atrás, nós recebemos um convidado muito especial para jogar conosco, o grande atacante Finazzi. Ele é um profissional. Ele já jogou futebol pela Ponte Preta, América- SP, Corinthians, Atlético - PR,..., etc. Ele é um cara muito bacana. Hamiltom, um amigo meu, me pediu para fazer uma carica dele e eu fiz...Então, Hamilton entregou prá ele...Foi fantástico para mim jogar futebol com ele e também fazer a carica. Eu gostaria de agradecer meu "brother" Hamilton, titular absoluto do gol do Sereno, pelas fotos.

Kal Penn is an American actor...His most famous character in the House M.D. Series was Dr. Lawrence Kutner in 36 episodes. He asked to the writers killed off his character because he wanted to work in the Barack Obama´s Administration as the Associate Director in the White House of Public Liaison. This is a quick sketch to the blog files.

Kal Penn é um ator Americano...Seu mais famoso personagem na série de TV House foi o Dr. Lawrence Kutner em 36 episódios. Ele pediu que os autores eliminassem seu personagem para que ele fosse trabalhar na Administração de Barack Obama como Diretor Associado de Relações Públicas da Casa Branca. Esse é um rápido esboço para os arquivos desse blog.

Larry Fine...

I grew up watching "The Three Stooges" on TV...My prefered group were Moe, Larry and Curly. Nowadays, I have a good moment when I see these movies again...It is vary hilarious. Today I tried to drawing the great Larry Fine in this quick sketch. Larry died in 1.975.

Eu cresci assistindo "Os Três Patetas" na TV...Meu conjunto preferido eram Moe, Larry e Curly. Atualmente, eu tenho bons momentos quando vejo esses filmes novamente...Eles são muito divertidos. Hoje eu tentei desenhar o grande Larry Fine nesse rápido esboço. Larry morreu em 1.975.

Alfred E. Neuman and his Comrades...

This Thematic Caricature was made for an International Contest here in Brazil. In fact, the Brazilcartoon and the Mad Magazine´s Publishing Company supported the contest. I don´t know if the chosen group pleased the people, but for me it was an interesting meeting. The final result will be known on May.

Essa é uma caricatura temática que foi feita para um salão aqui no Brasil. Na verdade, o Brazilcartoon e a editora da Revista Mad deram suporte ao salão. Eu não sei se o grupo escolhido agradou as pessoas, mas para mim foi uma interessante reunião. O resultado final será conhecido em Maio.

Jimmy Carter

James Earl Carter Jr. was the 39th President of USA, from 1.977 to 1.981. This art I did to the Rhinocerus Magazine´s International Contest in Bosnia & Herzegovina. The theme was "Politics and Politicians". In fact, the Jimmy´s caricature was the last 30 selected to the final dispute. The jury hated the drawing. It was the last one in the final classification...I´m frustrated, because I received the worst grade from an "artist" that produce unrecognizable caricatures. You can see the result and the artworks in the link below. Thus, like a friend of mine, Léo, would say: "...the Show must go on...".

James Earl Carter Jr. foi o 39º Presidente Americano de 1.977 até 1.981. Esse desenho eu fiz para um Salão Internacional da Revista Rhinocerus na Bósnia & Herzegovina. O tema era "Políticos e Políticas". Na verdade, essa caricatura de Jimmy Carter ficou entre as 30 finalistas. O júri odiou o desenho. Ele foi o último colocado na classificação final...Eu estou frustrado, porque eu recebi a pior nota de um "artista" que faz caricaturas irreconhecíveis. Você pode ver o resultado final e os finalistas no link acima. Assim, como um amigo meu, Léo, diria: "...o Show deve continuar...".

Obama´s Sketches...

When I started the Obama´s sketches I didn´t know which would be the best background...According to Tom Richmond, a good caricature must have three essentials elements, among them is a statement...I chose the American´s flag. I think there isn´t a statement better than this or is there ??? In this post you can see three stages of creation...I hope you enjoy them.

Quando eu iniciei os esboços do Obama não sabia qual seria o melhor fundo...De acordo com Tom Richmond, uma boa caticatura deve ter três elementos essenciais, entre eles está uma indicação ou dica sobre a pessoa...Eu escolhi a bandeira Americana. Eu acho que não existe uma indicação melhor ou existe ???

Mr. Barack Hussein Obama is the 44th President of USA. He is a winner for me in many aspects. Obama broke paradigms when he became the first black president of USA. I see a good intentions in his attitudes, like Health Insurance Reform...At last, I believe him. This art was made to the Rhinocerus Magazine´s International Contest in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Sr. Barack Hussein Obama é o 44º Presidente dos Estados Unidos da América. Ele é um vencedor para mim em muitos aspectos. Obama quebrou paradigmas quando se tornou o primeiro presidente negro dos Estados Unidos. Eu vejo boas intenções nas atitudes dele, como a reforma do saúde. Enfim, eu acredito nele. Essa carica foi feita para um salão internacional promovido pela Revista Rhinocerus da Bósnia & Herzegovina.
